Pawle Cup vs Fowey
To start proceedings josh ('whats the pawle cup') Richards was up against the wily Paul at #5. It took josh a while to climatise to the icy conditions and take a tight first game. The 2nd game was same again, josh again sneaking a tight well fought game. Josh upped his game in the 3rd, taking the game comfortably and a first Pawle Cup win under his belt.
At #4 chairman Neil made the trip on the eve of a masters weekend and was up against big farmer Martin. Neil raced through the first game, clearly keen to get home and rest. Martin had other ideas and the 2nd game was a more even affair, neil taking it with a late fury of points. In the third Neil stepped it up and ran away with the game and a solid 3 love win.
The threes were up next, callum taking on new bodmin player Tony. It took cal a few points to get into his stride but once he did he used good width to take fairly comfortable first game. Cal wasted no time in taking the 2nd game even more comfortably. Cal kept up the pressure in the third to take the game and a routine 3 love win.
At string 2 myles was up against ex truro player Joel. Myles started well and a good short game helped take a comfortable first game. Josh found some inspiration in the 2nd pushing myles to up his his game and getting in his head, myles eventually taking a very close one to go 2 up. Joel again made myles work for his points, but myles had enough in the tank to pull clear and take a 3 love win.
Lewis at #1 was up against willing runner John. Lewis started very quickly and John couldn't get a foothold in the game, lewis taking the first to love. John dug in and competed in 2nd and made lewis work harder to take the game. In the third lewis seemed in a hurry to get the job done and raced away to take the third and a 3 love win.
Final result Truro 5 Fowey 0.
Hopefully we will go straight through to the final on Saturday 9th May at Falmouth squash club, everyone is welcome to come and watch, there will also be food and celebrations after.
